We find ourselves today in the midst of an oceanic phenomenon most often referred to as a Perfect Storm, whereby a variety of unanticipated forces of considerable magnitude converge to unleash a torrent of devastating consequences on our suspecting society. Although we, as a nation may already be well past an economic recession cycle; we will likely not endure the trauma characterized by the Spanish flu of 1918, or even the likes of the Black Plague of the 14th century in which half of Europe would succumb to the deadliest viral infection in human history. We may not know what the future has in store for us or the toll that the Covid-19 pandemic will exact on our society and that of the greater global diaspora. We are, however, a nation of tremendous resolve, innovative spirit, and character that will once again herald a new era of technological and industrial fortitude that will be long remembered as one of the greatest socio-economic and cultural recoveries in U.S. history. Beset by COVID-19 and its magnificent power, transmissibility and the unbelievable characteristics of the Black Swan of yore and navigating a greatly contracted economy with horrendous social implications, we are survivors and blessed with the immense power, acumen and tools that would make Albert Einstein proud as we continue to invent our way through these turbulent times with “different thinking.” Our SND Town Hall panel of experts deeply immersed in the art-science of disaster preparedness, business recovery and continuity will help us reset our business compass and sextant as we successfully navigate the torrential waters of this Perfect Storm.
