2018 DALLAS POLICE OFFICER OF THE YEAR AWARD WITH LT. COL. ALLEN WEST

Police Officer Brian Nolff

Police Officer Brian Nolff, #6432, is a 27-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department, and has served as the Northwest Neighborhood Police Officer Unit business liaison since November 2016.” Officer Nolff’s commitment to his community meets and exceeds his role as a “public servant,” and his work has assisted with crime reduction, improved morale, and strengthened community efforts in the Northwest Division.

By building and growing relationships in the business community, Officer Nolff has assisted the department in securing financial support for several significant initiatives. In 2017, he worked with the Stemmons Corridor Business Association (SBCA), which donated tools and equipment to the Northwest Bait Car program, reducing overall property crime in the region. In 2018, the association contributed funds and equipment to refurbish the Northwest weight room, improving morale in the department.

In 2018, Officer Nolff learned that the Dallas Police Honor Guard lacked funds to attend the 2017 National Police Memorial in Washington, D.C. He reached out to business owner Paul Rego, with Regogo Racing, who agreed to organize a blues benefit concert. The event raised approximately $7,000, enabling the Honor Guard to attend the Memorial.

Officer Nolff regularly collaborates with citizens, schools and business leaders for assistance with the Northwest Neighborhood Policing Unit’s community outreach efforts. In June of 2016, he organized an event called “Share the Shoes.” He worked with Christ the King Catholic School, business owners and community stakeholders to gather and distribute over 300 pairs of shoes to children and needy families at two City of Dallas Recreation Centers and Ronald McDonald House Dallas.

The profession of policing is rapidly changing, and Officer Nolff epitomizes the change agents of the future. He willingly gives his own time and works diligently every day to improve the community efforts of the Dallas Police Department.
